I normally don't post too much that is going on in pop culture unless it's issues that impact our community. However, I thought I post this picture of Will and Jada Smith's daughter Willow Smith in Oslo at the Nobel Peace Prize concert (where POTUS Obama accepted his prize). Yes, she has a shaved head. She is 9 years old. When I first saw this I was like this is empowering, impressive, and shows how mature she is at 9yo. Then I begin to think if I had a 9yo child would I let her do the same? My answer would be YES if she is as mature and cultured as Willow. To me this shaved head is a trend (of course), but its no different from someone doing a "big chop" or BC to go natural. If a 9yo diva can walk around with her head shaved then there is no reason or apprehension on our part to hold our head up high and brush off the haters. I think she looks adorable, edgy, and FIERCE!
Hey, if my job didn't call for me to be "normal" I would do the big chop all over and shave my head..lol
How do you feel about Willow's hair? Is it age appropriate? Would you let your child (now, or in the future) shave her head?
