Well, you know from my post Hair Frustrations and Decisions that I have decided to loc my natural hair. I know after almost 2 years into the game its time for change. April 2010 will make two official years natural. This is my last pic above with a puff that I wore to church on Sunday. This weekend I made the journey to Houston's Rice Village to Uncle Funkys Daughter for a loc consultation to pay and make my appointment for starter locs. So, many thoughts have run through my head, like am I ready for this, is it the right time, then I begin to think "if not this time then the next time till the next time is the right time" (cue Love Jones). But, I am crazy excited. My appointment is on Saturday at 1pm so I will be making the journey back to Houston to get my small starter locs. :o)
My deep conditioner treatment this week was a Aphogee Protein Treatment on my hair using the packets you can get from Sallys. The treatment calls for you to wash your hair with the Aphogee shampoo and I substituted and just did a co wash then added the first packet. Once the first packet was added I sat under the dryer for about 15 minutes. My hair was hard like a rock. The directions call for you to not touch your hair until the treatment is rinsed out. So, I proceeded to rinse my hair and then add the last part of the packet which is a moisturizer. I let that sit on my hair for about 2-3 minutes and washed it out. I then moisturized my hair with some shea butter mix. Then I finger coiled my hair using Fantasia IC gel.
While in Houston this weekend I also went past the Whole Foods Market to see if they had any essential oils that were citrus flavored. To my surprise they did. I purchased some Orange Oil and Lemon Oil. I can't wait to make some flavored loc butter with these oils :0)
Keep the Faith!
Until next time,
~E
