"In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled." Daniel 10: 2, 3
The Daniel fast is always first spiritual because Daniel chose this diet for spiritual purposes. He did not want to defile his body, which he had consecrated for the Lord. The scripture clearly states, Daniel gained superior health and wisdom as a result of this diet/fast.
One of the great things about the Daniel Fast is that you are not limited to any specific amount of food, but rather to the kinds of food you can eat. The Daniel Fast is limited to vegetables (includes fruits) and water. I start this fast on January 24 and it ends on March 14. On February 14 to March 14 I will be implementing a modified diet adding back grilled meat and protein to my diet.
