Fast, Pray, Believe, and Receive! Lent 2014

Lenten season begins tomorrow, March 5, 2014, on Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014. Lent is 40 days of preparation through prayer, fasting, believing, and rededicating your life to Christ. The 40 days represents the days Jesus fasted and prayed in the desert leading up to his death, burial, and resurrection, with Sundays excluded. It is a time of giving things up as one way of remembering that time and as a test of self-discipline. During Lent many Christians fast or give up “fleshly” or “material” things to focus their time on God. Fasting teaches to focus on God and to resist temptation while seeking God through prayer and medication.

Since my husband and I have been married it has been our tradition to fast by completing the Daniel Fast during Lent. We also fast from other “material” things as well. This year along with the Daniel fast I will be fasting from social media. This means no more Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter beginning tomorrow until after April 20. So, if I seem distant please text me, group me, call me, or email me and I will promptly respond. :D My husband and I also decided that we are going to cut off our cable, as DirecTV has gotten expensive, but to also help us focus our time on reading, meditating, and growing together with prayer. This year’s Lenten season is particularly special to me because I am praying for deliverance of fear over my life. I have many doubts and fears of another pregnancy, and I know through fasting, praying, and believing, God will bless me with more faith over my fears.

Do you have something you are asking God for? Have you received your answer? Are you or your family in need of a breakthrough or closer relationship with Christ? If you answered yes to one of the questions above, please join me in fasting and praying during Lenten season.

Keep the Faith!

Until next time,
~E
