Lent is 40 days of preparation through prayer, fasting, believing, and rededicating your life to Christ. The 40 days represents the days Jesus fasted and prayed in the desert leading up to his death, burial, and resurrection, with Sundays excluded. It is a time of giving things up as one way of remembering that time and as a test of self-discipline. During Lent many Christians fast or give up “fleshly” or “material” things to focus their time on God. Fasting teaches to focus on God and to resist temptation while seeking God through prayer and medication.
This year during Lent I gave up social media. It was my way of getting back to where my attention needed to be focused on God, myself, and my husband. During Lent, I prayed for deliverance of fear over my life. I prayed over my doubts and fears of this pregnancy. My faith was tested during this Lenten season and I came out stronger than ever knowing that I will see my Gummy Bear in September. Lent has taught me to pray even when I don’t feel like praying, and to be willing to sacrifice self for God.
I am excited about this journey to baby and I know that God will continue to remove fear and replace it with faith as we get closer to bringing this baby home.
Keep the Faith!
Until next time,
~E
